US Election 2020 Results Beamed onto Dubai Media City’s Landmark Buildings

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 9 November 2020: Using the latest technology that combines augmented reality, powerful graphics and live data, the results of the 2020 Election will be beamed live across Dubai Media City as part of a virtual projection.

Local and international broadcasters in the region’s largest media hub are gearing up to cover one of the biggest news stories of the year: the US presidential election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. And Dubai Media City’s business partner, Al Arabiya, has prepared what could be one of the most sophisticated, technical and visual live news productions of the US election ever seen from an Arab news channel.

Dubai Media City will be transformed into an open-air backdrop for its coverage, with the results projected across the community’s landmark buildings, amphitheatre and famous lake to create a unique and immersive live news production.

Commenting on the initiative, Majed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Media City, said: “The region’s media industry has evolved exponentially in recent years, with the irrepressible rise of cutting-edge technologies creating new ways for millions of people to consume news and entertainment anytime, anywhere. We are pleased to see our business partner Al Arabiya thinking outside of the box to create another unique live news production. This innovative approach to journalism demonstrates Dubai is a growing player in the global media landscape that is also contributing to the UAE’s vision for a knowledge and innovation-based economy.”

Al Arabiya has a track record of creating world-class news productions from its hub in Dubai Media City, having launched a similar project for the US election in 2016 that required the collaboration of more than 150 people.

Owing to its advanced infrastructures and business-friendly environment stimulating innovation and creativity, Dubai Media City has attracted some of the world’s largest media organisations and best talent to Dubai. The community is currently home to 3,000 companies and 30,000 people and entrepreneurs including global companies such as CNN the BBC, MBC and CNBC Arabia.
